Designation of Origin: Deutscher Landwein Main
Vintage: 2021
Grape(s): A blend of Johanniter, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau & Muscaris
Vinification: Some of the grapes were direct pressed, some of them had a short maceration time pre-pressing, but this was intentionally made as a white wine.
Aging: Since it was our first vintage in Franken, everything was aged separately to get to know the grapes better, and blended shortly before bottling. The Johanniter spent time in used wood, and the other grapes in stainless.
Bottled: End of May 2022
Soil type: All vines are planted on gipskeuper, except the Johanniter on the hillside which has also schilfsandstein mixed in.
Age of vines: Muscaris and Pinot Blanc were planted in 2009, Johanniter in 2005 and the Müller Thurgau is from two plots planted in 1972 & 2007. Both the Johanniter and the Muscaris require no spraying.
Sulfur: All of our wines had a microdose of sulfur pre-bottling, and analyses came back under 20mg total.
A note about the name: Our love for chicken knows no limit.
